In the regional assembly it was announced, recently, by Jose Ballesta, Minister for public works, that the Ministry of Medio Ambiente has given the green light for phase two of the construction works of the International Airport which will mean that it will have the capacity to handle three million passengers a year.
The environment ministry has given its approval for the increase in capacity by way of a “Declaración de Impacto Ambiental favorable”, which is a positive report from an environmental aspect declaring that the extended works will not have a negative impact on the environment.
